This is the face of Luca Traini, 28, who drove around in his car looking for black people to kill, he later succeeded by opening fire on six African migrants from Nigeria, Ghana and Mali on Saturday in the central city of Macerata on Saturday, injuring six people before he was captured, in a racially motivated attack. According to the Police one of the six victims was seriously hurt and needed surgery.

The suspect, who was a candidate in a local election last year under the banner of the anti-immigration Northern League, had an Italian flag draped over his shoulders when armed police arrested him in the street. Onlookers said he made a fascist salute before being handcuffed. He has a fascist-inspired tattoo and a copy of Adolf Hitler’s manifesto Mein Kampf and a book by fascist dictator Benito Mussolini were also found at his mother’s home. An Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera quoted the suspect as telling investigators that his attacks were triggered by the murder of an 18-year-old Italian woman, allegedly by a Nigerian asylum seeker.

The shootings came during a heated electoral campaign which anti-foreigner sentiment has become a key theme. Italy has struggled in the last few years with the arrival of hundreds of thousands of migrants coming across the Mediterranean in smugglers’ boats.
